Our History

Carey Moving & Storage was originally founded in South Carolina in 1907. During the following decades the Corporate Offices were established in Spartanburg and Carey began expanding to the Greenville, SC area. A Carey Moving & Storage company was one of the founding members of Allied Van Lines, when Allied was established in 1928. This began the long and arduous path to expanding services to cover the eastern coast of the United States and setting up affiliations with other companies to network services. In the years to follow Carey expanded its hauling fleet and operations to encompass service up and down the entire East Coast, offering services for relocations including packing, crating, hauling, and storage.

Our Philosophy

Our basic philosophy has always been to treat every client with care and respect and to provide them with the best quality moving services available at any cost, anywhere. Over the years Carey has selectively increased its size and scope of operation through the acquisition of strategically located companies such as: Asheville Transfer & Storage, established in the Asheville, North Carolina area in 1896 and Arrow Moving & Storage established in the Charlotte, North Carolina area in 1977. Our newest location is a start up in Knoxville, Tennessee area in 2007.

Carey Today

During the years following the acquisitions Carey expanded coverage from the East Coast to the 48 contiguous States. With the additional power and planning of our Allied Sister Companies and Pickfords, Carey was now able to provide services that were available for relocations in United States including service to Alaska, the Canadian provinces and around the world. In 1999, Clayton, Dublier and Rice acquired Allied Van Lines and combined it with their other transportation companies to create Allied World Wide and later Sirva, Inc. With the combined companies of Sirva, we now have over 1100 Agents in the United States and Canada and 300 International Agents. Carey operates 5 locations and employs over 175 personnel operating in excess of 80 road units dedicated to servicing the relocations of our Corporate and Private Transferee clients.

Together, Carey, Allied and Sirva provide our Clients with unsurpassed resources, experience and financial stability to insure you a quality service organization that cares about each and every individual client and treats you as though you were our only priority to ensure the quality of service and your personal satisfaction.
